How to keep my feet dry while hunting birds?
I went pheasant hunting today for the first time and had a great time (even though I got no birds). I was warm and semi-dry in that walking through the tall grass, my fatigue pants and rubber (duck) boots brushed all morning against frost covered reeds. Didn't step in puddles. By 0900 my feet were wet. Any ideas on how to keep feet dry when walking around frosty/snowy fields?
Test your boots to see if they have any obvious leaks in them. If you find any, often rubber cement will help to correct the holes in the rubber. Use mink oil on the leather parts to keep moisture out. Finally, wear wool socks, as they tend to wick moisture away from your skin.
