Immigration to Malaysia - Dependent Visa.?

I have 5+ years of I.T. Experience in Java/J2EE and am currently working in Gurgaon India. My wife's Company has offered her a Long term Onsite Opportunity for Kuala Lampur Malaysia. Since currently my company is not offering me an onsite opportunity I am planning to join my wife on dependent visa. I have heard that one is not allowed to work on a dependent visa. What are the chances of my finding a Job there if i go there on a dependent visa and hunt for a employer who can get me a Work permit stamped.Also how much can i expect to earn and what is the cost of livin (approx.).

Yes it is true that you cannot work on a dependent's visa, Yet there is nothing to prevent you from job hunting, You could use your stay in malaysia to job hunt, Get a job then come back to India (for a few days ) meanwhile your prospective employer can arrange for job visa for you. Chances of finding employment is good as the locals in malaysia, (um mm how do I put this mildly) consider Indian nationals malleable enough to accept a much lower salary, with lesser benefits, (Almost None) and would not go on any leave unlike the locals who are known for absenteeism. Indians are known to work much much harder(well DONT expect any appreciation) Yet you will hace a MUCH MUCH better time with your wife than in Gurgaon as Malaysia is a very peaceful and beautiful country, and I guess you are a north Indian (well South Indians are not at all treated well) you get a better treatment.Your salary can be from RM 4000 - RM 6000 cost of living included any salary with cost of stay deducted of RM 5000 is a waste of time and cost of living is MUCH higer than in India. Cost of living is RM 2000+ Without rent with rent for a descent place Maybe 3500 +, Bye & Goodluck
