Stamp Collecting? Which has more value US or other countries? Which is better sheet, plate block, or single?
I am new to the world of stamp collecting, but I was wondring are US postage stamps better to collect than other countries?
Is it better to buy stamps by the sheet/pane, or blocks, or single? Please let me know what you do for your collection? Thanks for input
As to value, I can't say whether foreign stamps are worth more or US. I used to collect US stamps but have not been involved with it for a long time.
I only collected individual stamps. If you're just getting started and as you collect older stamps - the lick it kind - make sure you have sleeves for them instead of using hinges as the hinges will decrease the value of the stamps.
If you collect by the sheet/pane or blocks it will cost more to collect them but they also have a higher value.
When I was collecting stamps back in the late 70's, at one time my US stamp collection included stamps that pre-dated WWII and may have even been back to almost or around WWI. I would have had to start spending $25 or more per stamp to continue collecting.
When I was in high school I did a history paper for Social Studies class about how our US stamps portray our history as a nation. I got a good grade on it.
