I am a US Citizen, and have overstayed my Schengen visa. Will the UK give me a fresh stamp?
I have been here for 9 months now and my tourist stamp ran out after 3. I have tried twice to get a study visa in Sweden and was denied, because I was planning to do independent internship work outside the Swedish University system.
I've just been hired for a job in the UK and my employer is in the process of obtaining my UK work permit and after that I can apply for my work visa, but only from the USA. So i must leave and go back to do that. But if I leave from the Schengen area, they will red-stamp me due to me overstaying my visa. I lose sleep every night over this but I have done nothing morally wrong.
Can someone give me some clear, mystery-clearing feedback on what I can do if i go to the UK, by ferry, and go through customs there? Will they send me back or lock me up for overstaying my Schengen visa? What will, and what will not happen to me? Please help.
I have TOLD you once that the ONLY people that you have a beef with are the Schengen's. Their desire to "flag" you might result in a fine but if you think that is too severe, see the US consulate there for further advice. The WORST that could happen is that you would become "personna non gratis" in SVVVEEEEEDEN yah!!!
As I said earlier, the US could care less about your overstaying your visa in a foreign country and the UK WON'T let you in until you have been in line to get your ticket punched in Amerika. You now have the roadmap, follow it and QUIT loosing sleep over it. Get it out in the open and "get r done".
