Stamps Simple

Go to a good art/craft store and buy linolium blocks. They are available either pre-mounted on wood or as large, flat eraser-type things. If you only want small ones, use a pink pearl (or similar block) eraser.

You can either use a scalpel/craft knife to carve them or you can get a special lino cutter from the craft store. I've seen kits that include a lino block, a handle and 2 different blades for carving for under $15. It is very easy to do and comes with good instructions, I believe that the maker is speed-ball.

Draw what you want on a piece of paper and bear down hard with a pencil, flip it so the pencil is on the block, and scribble on the back of the piece of paper. This will transfer the image and you can carve it from there.

Use slow-drying felt-tip pens or paint to colour the image as you want then press it down on the paper. Alternatively, you can place the paper on the stamp and rub the back of the paper with your hand, paper or any other material for different effects.
