Has anyone been to Planet Hollywood, Times Square, New York for New Years Eve?
Can you see the ball drop live (not on TV) from there?
Is it worth paying the extra for VIP tickets to the 4th floor?
Is the Hard Rock better?
I've never been inside of Planet Hollywood, but I've walked by it countless times and I was in Times Square to see the ball drop last year. I'm not familiar with their VIP section or anything, but you'd probably have a somewhat decent view of the ball. You'd probably have to be pressed up against the window and look down the street to see it from there--as that restaurant doesn't have a direct view of the ball.
I'm not sure if you'd be able to see it any better than Hard Rock. They both have similar viewpoints.
